A. Ideally, the MTBF should be used as part of a model that assumes the failed system will be repaired immediately (zero elapsed time) as opposed to mean time to failure (MTTF), which measures average time between failures of non-repairable systems only. However, in practice, MTBF is commonly used for both types of systems, repairable and non-repairable.
