Q.
Why is the NOP depending on the span of the frequency when measuring SRF (Self Resonance Frequency)?
- Kondensatoren >
- Keramik-Vielschichtkondensatoren (MLCC)
A.
If the SRF would have been a straight line, the NOP will not be much of effect. However, impedance dips down very quickly as it approaches SRF. Therefore, the interval between each measurement point needs to be small in order not to miss. When the frequency span is large and number of points is small, the interval between each measure point will be large. If the SRF is somewhere in between the intervals, the SRF will be the average of these intervals and thus it would be missed. Therefore, if the span of the frequency is high, the NOP should be large.
