Q.
What kind of failure occurs when an overcurrent flows?
- EMC Components >
- Signal Line Common Mode Chokes/Filters
A.
In the case of multilayer products, the surface temperature increases when an overcurrent flows, which may lead to damage of the terminals or melting of solder.
In the case of wire wound products, it is less likely that the lines of the products themselves have an open failure due to a momentary (usec) overcurrent.
However, if a current larger than the rated current flows for an extended period of time, an open failure will occur.
