Piezoelectric powder level sensors provide highly accurate and stable voltage output to indicate the presence or absence of particulate matter referred to as powder. This article describes the driving principle (the piezoelectric unimorph driving principle) and structure of piezoelectric powder level sensors, application in piezoelectric vibration type sensors, and the driving method and driving circuits of piezoelectric unimorphs.

Piezoelectric powder level sensors make it possible to accurately detect fine powder residue with piezoelectric ceramic and vibrating structures that have been optimized specifically for fine powder detections.
There is no deterioration of the components, which leads to highly reliable detections and increased service life.
Piezoelectric ceramics are used in the detection components to make detections possible regardless of magnetic or non-magnetic properties, and ASICs specialized for piezoelectric ceramics and optimized for fine powder detection are used together with our own structuring, to make it possible to drive these piezoelectric ceramics with high-accuracy.
These sensors are used for detecting residual printer toner and various types of residual powders.
