As shift-by-wire systems are increasingly being adopted by various systems in recent years, location tracking is consequently becoming more and more a necessity. TDK has developed a stroke sensor that combines Hall-effect ICs and magnet assemblies to enable non-contact location tracking. Not only can the sensor be used in harsh conditions exposed to dust, water, and oil, but it also achieves high accuracy with TDK's unique magnetic circuit, is resistant to air gap fluctuations, and does not require homing because it tracks absolute locations.
