TDK Product Features
In this type of capacitor, a combination of a highly conductive polymer and a liquid electrolyte is used instead of a liquid electrolyte, which has a relatively low conductivity. This means a significant reduction in the ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance), so that – depending on the type – values in the single-figure milli-ohm range are achieved. This in turn means that a very high ripple current can be applied to these capacitors. As a result, in many designs – especially in automotive electronics – a parallel connection of capacitors is no longer required, which saves space and increases reliability. TDK currently offers axial, soldering star and SMD hybrid polymer aluminum electrolytic capacitors.
